Product Description:
The best stocks are simmered slowly over steady, low heat. Calphalon’s 12-qt. Stock Pot is crafted of heavy-gauge aluminum to cook ingredients evenly, at just the right temperature. Stick-resistant surface won’t react with most foods. Includes flat, anodized lid.
Amazon.com Review:
Calphalon Commercial hard-anodized pans are made for the more serious cook who is looking for kitchenware built to last a lifetime. This large-size, 12-quart stockpot is good for soup, stews, and pasta, and its heavy-gauge aluminum construction also stands up to deep frying. The looped handles are easy to grip and stay cooler than you might expect, thanks to V-shaped splits where they meet the pan, but it’s still a good idea to keep hot pads nearby. The nonporous and nonreactive hard-anodized surface resists sticking and doesn’t affect the flavor or color of food. It’s also tough enough to handle stainless-steel utensils and vigorous whisking. Unlike pans with plastic or wood handles, the extremely sturdy all-metal construction provides you the flexibility to take the pan to the oven or broiler. But do remember to hand wash your Calphalon pans–dishwasher detergents are bad for the finish and their use voids the lifetime warranty. –Dale Steinke

- Love It!!
Hey, it’s Calphalon - there’s nothing better. I have used Calphalon for more than 10 years, and it cooks better than anything else. The Calphalon Commercial seems thicker and stronger than other Calphalon. While few things stick to any Calphalon, even fewer things stick to Calphalon Commercial. I don’t expect to use this 12-quart stockpot every day or even every week, but when I have a lot of people to feed, it will be worth its weight in gold.
- de-anodized on 3rd batch of sauce….HOWEVERSpoke with customer service at Calphalon, and as it happed SO quickly, they are sending a post paid return. AND, since this is discontinued…it will be replaced with a 12 qt. contemporary stainless (can you spell dishwasher?) So, folks, at the amazing Friday price - for a little inconvenience I’ll have a great stock pot for next season!
Other cooks have not reported this outcome, so I do think it’s a bad batch from China, but they absolutely stand by their warranty.
So, yes, buyer beware - -but, if you’re paying attention here….there’s no way to lose. These are great products at a fabulous Amazon price.
- Only Calphalon One is made in US according to their customer service
- Glad I got it! Now, the good part. I wanted a 12 qt stock pot and I like using this one. It seems to distribute heat well. The cover handle works well for me and never seems to get to warm for my bare hand. The side handles feel sturdy, well positioned, and enable me to heft the pot without strain. Even full, I feel I have good, adequate control when moving it about. The lid fits simply and well.
I favor it, now, over my clad, triple-ply 8 qt. stainless steel stockpot.
Lastly, I had occasion to telephone Calphalon customer service. My call was answered swiftly and the service was delivered pleasantly — something increasingly rare these days.
- Just Love It
